The Island - Three Ireland
All around the world, small islands are dying. Nowhere is this more evident than on Arranmore, off the Atlantic coast of Ireland at the edge of Europe. Cut off from the mainland, set adrift from investment that has seen Ireland thrive. An Island just off the coast was drifting dangerously out of reach. Three took Arranmore and with the help of its residents, turned it into the most connected Island in the word. Giving islanders faster internet speeds than people living in Denmark or New York, connecting schools, connecting doctors surgeries to bring expert medical care to the island’s ageing population, even connecting the island’s fishing fleet to both its catch and to a global market.
This campaign brought Arranmore into the 21st-century, creating an 84% increase in tourism, hundreds of new business enquiries and reversing over 150 years of emigration by raising the overall population of Arranmore by 10%.
